Bernadette Peters

 Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara, born February 28th, 1948) is an American actor, singer and author of children's books. Through her long career, she has appeared on film, television, and musical theatre. She also performed on her own and recorded. She is a highly respected Broadway performer. She has earned seven Tony Awards nominations (plus an honorary award) along with nine Drama Desk Award nominations. Grammy Awards have been won by four of the Broadway casting albums in which she has starred.



 



 Peters is widely regarded as the most well-known interpreter for the work of Stephen Sondheim. Her roles on Broadway include Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (84), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods with George (87), The Goodbye Girl(93), Annie Get Your Gun 1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2009), Follies (2011), as well as Hello, Dolly (2018).
